“Suits” fans, rejoice!
Following a surge in viewership via Netflix, the USA Network series could be getting a second life.
A new show set in the world of “Suits” is reportedly in development, according to Deadline.
Showrunner Aaron Korsh is partnering with NBCUniversal for the untitled series.
However, the new project will not be a reboot or a spinoff.
Sources told Deadline that “deals are still being negotiated,” but the show is “expected to be fast-tracked with a serious commitment.”
The outlet added that there would be a new cast and wouldn’t have any returning characters from the OG 2011 series.
The new “Suits” project would be similar to the “NCIS” or “CSI” crime dramas, where they take place in different cities around the globe.
The show’s setting would be in workplace in Los Angeles with themes of a legal dramatization.
It is still unknown which NBCUniversal platform it would be broadcasted on.
The only other spinoff that came of the “Suits” universe was 2019’s “Pearson,” which only lasted one season on the USA Network.
The series dropped in 2011 and ran for nine seasons, and starred Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Gina Torres and Meghan Markle.
“Suits” was added to Netflix in June and reached a record-breaking viewership number, with 3.14 billion minutes of watch time.
The drama was Markle’s last acting role before she was whisked off to be a duchess and married husband Prince Harry in 2018.
Executive producer Gene Klein revealed in August that the actress probably will never be part of a revival or reboot.
“I’d be surprised if we could thread that needle for a reunion, but I’d also be delighted if that happened because [when] you do a show for that long, everybody becomes such a good friend,” he told TV Line at the time.
Getting the Duchess of Sussex to return to the show is something that “I would assume that’s just not possible,” Klein explained.
