Former NFL star Antonio Brown was arrested in Florida this past weekend after allegedly neglecting to pay child support.
Brown, 35, was booked in a jail in Broward County “around midnight” on Sunday and released on $15,000 bond, according to Local 10 in Miami.
Brown was reportedly detained outside his home in Dania Beach after entering a taxi cab on a warrant that had been issued by the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Wiltrice Jackson and Brown’s daughter, Antanyiah, was born in 2008.
Jackson told TMZ that Brown owes about $31,000.
“I do want him arrested,” Jackson recently told TMZ.
“Because, right now, he’s making a mockery out of the judge, out of everything, because he feels like he’s untouchable.”
Jackson told the outlet that she wanted Brown to be “an involved father” to their 15-year-old daughter, a track-and-field star, who has already received interest from a number of universities including Miami (Fla.) and Oregon.
“By him having a daughter like an athlete like her, you would think he’d be in her corner to support her,” Jackson told TMZ.
Police in Florida had been ordered to arrest Brown for non-payment in August.
Earlier this year, the National Arena League kicked out Brown’s Albany Empire team for “failure to pay their league mandated and overdue assessments.”
Brown, a four-time All-Pro, had an NFL career that spanned from 2010-21 with the Steelers, Patriots and Buccaneers.
He was released by the Bucs after quitting the team in the middle of a January 2022 game against the Jets at MetLife Stadium, walking shirtless to the locker room during the third quarter in a profoundly bizarre scene.
