New York City’s world-famous bakeshop is transforming some of its fan favorites into THC-infused edibles — but it might be tough for residents of the Big Apple to get their hands on them.
Magnolia’s first-ever cannabis product, presented in partnership with award-winning cannabis edibles brand Incredibles, “celebrates the brand’s most iconic, fan-favorite flavors in a new light.”
However, the limited-edition edibles won’t be available in any of the Magnolia Bakery stores, and will only be sold by Incredibles and its retail partners in Illinois, Nevada and Massachusetts.
And THC edibles cannot be shipped nationwide, so you might have to travel to get that Magnolia high.
Customers will be able to find the treats at RISE Dispensaries in the aforementioned states, with wider availability coming to the three states starting next week.
Green Thumb Industries Inc. — which manufactures and distributes Incredibles as part of a portfolio of branded cannabis products — owns and operates national retail cannabis stores.
As for the offerings, the dessert-maker’s signature banana pudding and red velvet cupcakes are being whipped into new heights, with the creation of two limited-edition THC-infused chocolate bars: Swirled Famous Banana Pudding Bar and Red Velvet Piece Ahhh Cake 1:1 Bar.
The Swirled Famous Banana Pudding Bar contains 10 mg of THC per piece and 100 mg of THC per bar, and tastes like a swirl of creamy vanilla pudding, crunchy vanilla cookies and freeze-dried bananas, according to the press release.
The Red Velvet Piece Ahhh Cake 1:1 Bar has flavors of moist crimson cake, cream cheese tang and rich dark chocolate. These bars contain 10 mg of THC and 10 mg of CBD per piece, and 100 mg of THC and 100 mg of CBD per bar.
“We want to continue to introduce Magnolia Bakery to audiences nationwide, outside the reach of our bakeries,” Magnolia Bakery’s VP of partnerships Sara Gramling told The Post.
Gramling said the bakery’s aim was to “reimagine the brand” and appeal to current diehards, but also court future ones.
“We’ve seen plenty of feedback from our fantastic fans who have enjoyed banana pudding or red velvet cake as their munchies of choice and we knew by working with the award-winning Incredibles team, we could combine the two into something truly unique and delicious,” Gramling shared.
Gramling said that when researching potential partners for the collaboration, Magnolia Bakery was drawn to the edibles brand because of its experience in the field, high-quality product and flair for fun, playful packaging.
“There are few bakeries as recognized as Magnolia Bakery, with their world-renowned treats that customers flock to,” Dominic O’Brien, senior vice president of revenue at Green Thumb, said in a statement.
“And in cannabis, there is nothing like Incredibles, the number one best-selling chocolate edibles brand across all our existing markets. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Magnolia Bakery on this collaboration, crossing their classic flavors with our commitment to deliver an ‘effect you can expect’ that Incredibles is famous for.”
While many states have either decriminalized or legalized cannabis, not all of them allow cannabis delivery. Differing cannabis laws from state to state can create obstacles when it comes to shipping nationwide.
Some states, including Illinois, where Green Thumb is headquartered, have marijuana laws currently under review in state courts — making national expansion and shipping a hard feat. A bill to issue cannabis delivery licenses in the state is currently in committee.
