Homeless man goes on slashing spree, injuring two outside shelter and sleeping straphanger: NYPD

A homeless man viciously attacked two people outside his own shelter before slashing a sleeping straphanger at a nearby subway station in Brooklyn over the weekend, police said. 

Abraham Kentish, 27, allegedly began his rampage at around 1:45 a.m. Sunday when he slashed a 38-year-old man in the face and stabbed a 70-year-old man in the torso in front of the men’s shelter on Blake Avenue near Linwood Street in East New York, cops said. 

About 10 minutes later, police said Kentish attacked a stranger who was sleeping on board a southbound No. 4 train near the New Lots Avenue subway station, just blocks away from the shelter.

He allegedly slashed that victim, a 26-year-old man, in the neck, cops said.

All three victims were taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition.

Kentish was arrested at around 3:10 a.m. at Pennsylvania and Linden Avenues, cops said. 

Police charged him with felony assault with a weapon. 

The motives for the pre-dawn assaults remained unclear Monday.
