Andrew Bailey was set to interview Monday for the Yankees’ bench coach position, The Post has learned.
Bailey, a New Jersey native who attended Wagner College in Staten Island, had been the Giants pitching coach for the past four seasons.
Bailey also has been under consideration for pitching-coach roles with the Red Sox, Orioles and Marlins, and turned down an opportunity to be considered by the White Sox.
The Yankees job is open with Carlos Mendoza being named Mets manager.
Mendoza, who’ll be introduced during a Tuesday press conference at Citi Field, had served as Aaron Boone’s bench coach for the past four seasons.
Bailey pitched for five teams from 2009 (when he was with Oakland and was named AL Rookie of the Year) to 2017.
The righty reliever appeared in 10 games for the 2015 Yankees. In 2018-19, he held strategy/coaching positions with the Angels after being hired by their then general manager Billy Eppler.
The Athletic was the first to report that Bailey was under consideration for the Yankees’ bench coach position.
