Meghan McCain slams ‘The View’ hosts for ‘slander’: ‘I will be consulting my lawyers’
Her view includes litigation.
Meghan McCain is slamming “The View” hosts for “slander” and threatening to take legal action after certain comments were made on Thursday morning’s episode.
While discussing the recent authorization of the impeachment inquiry into President Biden, which allows House committee chairmen to build a case that he was improperly involved with his family’s foreign business dealings, the chat then focused on Hunter Biden.
Earlier this month, Hunter was indicted on nine charges — including three felonies — partially for allegedly failing to pay more than $1 million in taxes while living an “extravagant” lifestyle over a four-year period, according to a 56-page indictment out of the Central District of California written by special counsel David Weiss.
For their part, “The View” focused on Hunter’s penchant for influence peddling, or using his family name to gain power and earn favor especially in his business dealings.
Co-host Ana Navarro then pointed out that influence peddling is the norm for prominent figures in DC.
“Look, did Hunter Biden influence-peddle on his last name? Yes, he did,” she said. “So did half of Washington. People sitting at this table did it!”
Upon hearing that from her co-host, a visibly shocked Alyssa Farah Griffin then asked, “Who at this table peddled on their last name?”
To which Navarro bluntly responded: “I’m not talking about currently.”
The panel and audience then erupted in laughter with Griffin adding, “We just wanted to clear our names.”
After the episode aired, the 39-year-old “Bad Republican” author took to social media to share her grievances with her former colleagues.
“I don’t understand why my former colleagues @TheView @ABC bring me up and slander me on an almost weekly basis,” McCain wrote on Twitter. “It has been years – move on, I have. I have never been accused of a crime in my life and am a patriotic American – I would never and have never ‘influenced peddled’ in my life, let alone with foreign adversaries.”
“Not all politicians children are the same – and I am no Hunter Biden,” she added. “All accusations are absurd, defamatory and slanderous. I will be consulting my lawyers regarding what was libeled against me on ‘The View’ this morning.”
The Post has reached out to reps for “The View” and McCain for comment.
McCain was a host on “The View” for four seasons and in October she launched Citizen Cain Productions, a “production company that will produce podcasts, scripted, unscripted and documentary content for all platforms with a mission to tell female-led and American stories” starting with the “Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat” podcast, according to Variety.
“The inspiration is what I’m talking about on my group chats all day,” McCain said. “I’m giving all my friends this free content, and now, I’m putting it into a podcast.”
