Nick Wright can’t take any more of “disingenuous” Aaron Rodgers.
The FS1 “First Things First” host roasted the Jets quarterback for being “the most disingenuous athlete of my lifetime” during Wednesday’s show.
“You were disingenuous about the vaccine, that was annoying. Not that status, the way you did it. You were disingenuous about your retirement status, 90 percent retired. You were disingenuous about coming out of the dark room. I’m going to play for the Packers, that was my only goal,” Wright said about the future Hall of Famer.
“You were disingenuous about how well Verizon works in southern California. You were then disingenuous about whether or not you wanted Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard and Tim Boyle on your team or if Joe Douglas is just quite simply the worst talent evaluator in NFL history. You were disingenuous about why [Nathaniel] Hackett is now the offensive coordinator.
“You’re now disingenuous about your own comeback, which you were disingenuous about the entire time.”
Wright’s rant came during a segment that touched on Rodgers in the aftermath of a news-heavy week for the quarterback.
The Jets confirmed last week that Rodgers would miss the rest of the season despite months of talk of a potential return and yet still activated him — which he said Tuesday was not his call.
During his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the 40-year-old also said any of his critics should express their vaccination status since he believes that clouds their judgment of him.
Rodgers even bizarrely said there are “puppet masters who are puppeteering them” when referencing those who are mad at him for his vaccination status.
Those comments seemed to push Wright over the edge.
“Aaron thinks that he’s the relative on Thanksgiving that nobody wants to get caught in a corner with because this guy tells you the hard truths when reality it’s because you’ve told me to read ‘(The) 48 Laws of Power’ and about the Illuminati every Thanksgiving for a decade and I’m tired of it,” Wright said.
Wright believes Rodgers knows exactly what he is doing by staying in the headlines despite not playing, which is usually not the case.
The media personality called out Rodgers for disassociating himself with Jets decisions that have backfired but seemed to be tied to his happiness, such as adding the ex-Packers players who have added little, like Cobb and Lazard, and his embattled former offensive coordinator in Hackett.
“Let me be fair, I’m going to do exactly what Aaron said, because Aaron said before you comment on him, you should have to disclose your vaccination status, so double-vaxxed, Pfizer, not boosted. Now, does that impact my opinion on Aaron Rodgers? No,” Wright said. “You know why? Kirk Cousins, not vaxxed, nobody says a mumbling word about him. I’m pretty sure Lamar Jackson isn’t vaxxed, best I can tell Lamar Jackson won’t even take DayQuil, my guy gets sick every year and he’s going to win the MVP.
“The commentary is not about your vaccination status, it’s about you being the most disingenuous athlete of my lifetime.”
Wright added: “So this is not about anyone’s private medical situations, it’s about the biggest ‘Look at me Louie’ saying to his best bud, McAfee, ‘Why is everyone looking at me?’ It’s so irritating, that’s what it is. My God. And everyone knows it. I think A.J. Hawk knows it. I think A.J. Hawk is watching this like, ‘This guy has lost his mind.’”
