Trump campaign rips ex-spokeswoman who backs DeSantis: ‘Foul stench of s–t’
Donald Trump’s campaign viciously lashed out Wednesday at its ex-communications director Erin Perrine, maligning her as a “grifter” over her defection to a super PAC backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis this cycle.
Perrine appeared on the Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria” program, where she was described as a “former Trump campaign communications director” in a nod to the role she held in the former president’s 2020 campaign.
“Look at this grifter @ErinMPerrine trying to use her previous Trump association to get on TV. She chose to side with DeSanctimonious and nothing can ever wash that foul stench of s— off her,” the Trump War Room account posted on X, using one of the 77-year-old former president’s favored nicknames for his rival.
“MAGA disowns her and anyone else that associates/works with her. TRAITOR!”
The attack on Perrine also appeared to double as a warning against Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo booking her in the future.
The campaign was slammed on social media for its tantrum, with former NYPD officer John Cardillo writing on X: “Trump’s official campaign team is so vile towards former employees who left the cult, especially women. What kind of presidential candidate and his team act this way?”
“These are sick cultist people,” he added.
“Really signaling confidence in your competence that you’re spending time attacking a former staffer instead of running a 2024 campaign,” added communications maven Ellen Carmichael. “Kinda creepy y’all are obsessed with her.”
Perrine was reportedly let go from the DeSantis-supporting Never Back Down PAC as of early December.
In her appearance on “Mornings With Maria,” Perrine analyzed the 2024 contest and drew attention to how President Biden was hemorrhaging some key blocs of support in recent polls.
“Another point here when you look at this polling isn’t that Donald Trump is building more within these coalitions. We have seen some slight movement, but it’s not like these voters are leaving Joe Biden and going to Donald Trump,” she said.
“Especially with black voters, they’re looking at a third-party candidate as a possibility,” she went on. “That’s a spoiler for Democrats if that is the case come the 2024 election.”
Perrine further posited that Democrats were suffering an enthusiasm gap against Trump and mused that while there is a “long runway until election day,” the White House should be nervous about November.
The Post contacted Never Back Down for a reaction. Perrine declined to comment.
