Taylor Swift gives host Jo Koy a ‘deadly stare’ after ‘unnecessarily rude’ Golden Globes joke
Taylor Swift felt bad blood toward 2024 Golden Globe Awards host, Jo Koy.
Swift, 34, went without her NFL player beau, Travis Kelce, to attend the 81st Golden Globe Awards solo.
During the ceremony, the Golden Globes host, comedian Jo Koy, called out the NFL’s outsized interest in Swift when he quipped onstage, “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL is that at the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.”
The broadcast cut to Swift sitting at a table and shooting the comedian a glare.
Fans online were quick to notice.
Angry Swifties are already flocking to Jo Koy’s social media.
“Congrats you pissed off the most intense fandom. Enjoy your snakes,” one fan commented on his Instagram account.
Another fan wrote on the same Instagram post: “Unnecessary rude joke about TS. JUST not nice! Being a host doesn’t mean insulting people. It’s not a roast. There are classy ways to go about things.”
“Absolute deadly glare from Taylor Swift at Jo Koy’s football joke was all of us right now,” another fan posted on X, formerly Twitter.
The Grammy-winning artist attended the Sunday awards show, wearing a shiny metallic green dress, following much fan speculation she might skip it to be with boyfriend Travis Kelce as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers. Kelce looked downcast while at the game.
“That death glare Taylor Swift gave Jo Koy after his little camera angle comment … GIRL, that man better say some prayers or something because if looks could bring misfortune, it’s that one,” another fan said.
“The vibe in that room right now. Everyone HATES him,” one fan commented, while another added, “That Taylor Swift death glare was the nail in the coffin.”
Swift was nominated at the Golden Globes for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures concert doc “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.” The award ultimately went to the box office smash “Barbie.”
Swift was first romantically linked to Kelce, 34, in September 2023 after the “All Too Well” singer attended his game against the Chicago Bears. Ever since then, the NFL have capitalized on their link with the famous singer.
And, Swift didn’t take kindly to Koy joking about it.
Swift and Kelce went public with their whirlwind romance in October when they made a surprise cameo on “Saturday Night Live” and were then spotted leaving the after-party holding hands.
“We are just two people supporting each other doing what we love,” Swift, 34, told Time magazine when she was announced as “Person of the Year” last month.
During the interview, the “Lover” singer clarified their romance timeline — revealing they began dating when he put her “on blast.”
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she told the outlet. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”
“By the time I went to that first game (Sept. 24), we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
Since the September game, the “Style” songstress has attended five games and has developed a fast friendship with Brittany Mahomes, who’s married to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” Swift laughed, regarding the amount of times she’s shown on camera. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when then camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
The “You Belong With Me” singer also said she’s very “sensitive” about being in the spotlight whenever she attends her beau’s games.
“I’m just there to support Travis,” she said. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads and Chads.”
Not all fans were on Swift’s side, however. One fan commented, “That joke wasn’t even horrible! But she just ended this guy’s career with one glare. ‘OH you’re the guy Taylor Swift glared at on national television!'”
