Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce aren’t the only ones who sealed a conference championship win with a kiss.
Moments after leading the 49ers to a thrilling comeback victory over the Lions in Sunday’s NFC Championship game, quarterback Brock Purdy embraced his biggest fan, fiancée Jenna Brandt, on the field at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
The couple shared a kiss as the nearby crowd celebrated San Francisco’s 34-31 win to advance to Super Bowl 2024.
Brandt, who announced her engagement to Purdy in July 2023, gushed over the second-year quarterback in an Instagram post hours after the game.
“Proud proud & proud,” she wrote Monday.
Purdy went 20-for-31 for 267 yards, one touchdown and an interception in the championship contest, erasing a 17-point deficit in the second half.
“No one was freaking out. It’s football. There’s a lot of experienced guys on this team, veteran guys who have been in crazy situations. We were just like, ‘We have to do our job,'” Purdy said.
The former Iowa State product, who was the final pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, also celebrated with teammates during the postgame presentation of the George Halas Trophy to the NFC champs.
“We’re lucky he’s our quarterback,” said running back Christian McCaffrey, who rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
“He takes a lot of heat for absolutely no reason.”
There was plenty of talk about Purdy’s play entering Sunday’s game following the previous weekend’s sloppy divisional-round victory over the Packers.
“The weather, that’s football, you got to overcome that,’’ Purdy said after the 24-21 win, when he went 23-for-39 for 252 yards and one touchdown.
“After a while I got into a rhythm. That’s on me. Overall we got to find a way to win and we made it work.’’
The 49ers will now head to Las Vegas to face the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs, who knocked off the Ravens earlier in the day Sunday in the AFC title game.
Super Bowl 2024 gets underway at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium.
