Super Bowl week is a time for wacky bets, and we may have found the weirdest one of all.
A bettor at Caesars Sportsbook in Nevada dropped $100 on the Kansas City Chiefs to score exactly two points during Super Bowl 2024 at 10,000-1 odds.
If, somehow, the bet hits, the Caesars gambler would walk away with a whopping $1 million.
No team has ever scored fewer than three points in a Super Bowl.
Only twice has a team finished with exactly three points — the Los Angeles Rams in 2019 and the Miami Dolphins in 1972.
Safeties themselves in the Super Bowl are exceptionally rare.
There have only been nine safeties in Super Bowl history, the last coming in 2014 when the Seattle Seahawks put up the first points of the game after a bad snap sailed over the head of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning into the end.
FanDuel Sportsbook sees little chance there’s a safety for either team on Sunday, pegging odds on one at +1260 as of this writing.
And the Chiefs, while they might not be the offensive powerhouse of former years, are a tough team to keep off the scoreboard.
A Patrick Mahomes-led team has only scored three or fewer points in a game once throughout his career — Week 7 in 2021 during a 27-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
The Chiefs have finished with a single-digit point total only twice in games Mahomes has played in.

The 49ers’ defense hasn’t exactly been stout during their playoff run, too.
San Francisco has given up at least 350 yards to both the Packers and Lions en route to the Super Bowl.
So unless something changes, it won’t be difficult for Mahomes and Co. to breach the two-point marker, even if the Niners pull off the rare safety.
