Cop on horseback hunts down shoplifter across New Mexico street in only one minute: video

A thief tried to outrun a New Mexico mounted officer — but quickly realized he didn’t have the horsepower.

Riveting bodycam footage shows the moment an Albuquerque police officer and his stallion sprang into action after witnessing the sticky-fingered perp sprint out of a Walgreens store.

He had allegedly stuffed $230 worth of merchandize in his pockets before fleeing.

The duo caught up with the man, dressed in all black, in just seconds.

“Go get him, go get him!” a crowd of bystanders cheered on, then answering with a resounding “yes!” when the officer asked whether the man had stolen from the store.

The mounted cop repeatedly tried to stop the fleeing suspect as he ran across the parking lot.

The black-haired beauty remained hot on his trail, however, even when the desperate runner led them across a three-lane roadway.

“It wasn’t me!” the man yelled, among a flurry of gibberish.

At one point, the suspect seemingly ran out of steam. Rather than run, he tried briskly walking away from the bronco.

He was eventually forced to give up when two other mounted officers and their stunning furry partners cornered him on the sidewalk.

One of the officers dismounts from his horse and handcuffs the man, who was later identified as 30-year-old Mark Chacon.

The entire chase lasted roughly one minute.

He was charged with shoplifting, evading police on foot, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
