World’s 10 best airports for food and drink revealed — which US hubs made the list?
These airports are elevating the terminal dining experience.
Food & Wine announced its 2024 Global Tastemakers awards on Tuesday, with the panel of more than 180 food and travel journalists revealing their favorite airports for food and drinks.
Only three of the top 10 are in the US — and just one is in New York City.
John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens came in seventh, with the tastemakers raving that the “food selection is almost as massive as the airport itself.”
The inclusion of iconic New York tastes drew acclaim — the panelists recommend trying the Palm Bar & Grille in Terminal 4, which “brings New York steakhouse energy to the airport.”
Since JFK is an international hub, the tastemakers highlighted the diversity of cuisines, such as Soy and Sake for ramen in Terminal 1 and Mi Casa Cantina and Restaurant in Terminal 4.
The other US airports on the list are Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (No. 8) and San Francisco International Airport (No. 9).
The crown, however, went to Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore.
The tourist destination — which boasts the world’s tallest indoor waterfall — features more than 100 food vendors.
The airport’s offerings include “slurp-worthy broth made with Japanese pork bones that have been simmering for more than 10 hours” and “award-winning chili crab.”
