Wacko pepper-sprays elderly man after randomly yelling at him in broad daylight NYC attack: NYPD
A stranger pepper-sprayed a 67-year-old man after randomly yelling at him in a bizarre attack at the South Street Seaport, cops said this week.
The assailant approached the victim on Front Street near Beekman Street – just outside the Seaport Museum – around 10:20 a.m. March 18 and began to yell at him, police said.
It’s unclear what the menace was grousing about – but he then pulled out an “unknown substance” believed to be pepper spray and discharged it into the victim’s face, authorities said.
The victim, who suffered pain and burning to his face, was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, cops said.
The still-at-large attacker is shown in footage released by the NYPD late Tuesday, strolling along the sidewalk.
He is described as about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 with a dark complexion, heavy build and salt and pepper beard.
In a similar recent attack, career criminal Emmanuel Solcio, 57, allegedly blasted two NYPD cops with Mace after they caught him red-handed trying to beat the subway fare through the emergency exit of an East Harlem subway station, cops said.
Also in March, Larry Martin, 42, allegedly tossed scalding water at three women and a man in Midtown during a terrifying 90-minute morning spree.
