Inside Kate Middleton and Prince William’s 13th wedding anniversary celebrations
Prince William and Kate Middleton are marking 13 years of marriage with an intimate at-home celebration, The Post can reveal.
The Prince and Princess of Wales tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, and have acknowledged their special day in a post on social media.
“13 years ago today,” their official social media account captioned a never-before-seen throwback wedding day image of the couple.
And as for celebrations, the pair are marking their anniversary “very privately and quietly,” according to a former butler to William’s late mother, Princess Diana, Paul Burrell.
“William is not a show person,” Burrell revealed. “He is a very private man and celebrations are done behind closed doors. It is personal to him, and he and Kate are forging their future together privately.”
The royal expert noted that the prince, 41, is set to whip up a special meal for his leading lady in the kitchen.
“They don’t have a full-time cook. They borrow staff from the king whenever they have dinner parties or something formal,” Burrell shared.
“Privately, they will muddle through themselves,” he adds. “William is quite capable of rustling up a decent meal in candlelight for him and Kate.”
As for gifts, the duo have an annual “family tradition” they keep up with every year that sees William gift Middleton, 42, a piece of jewelry made especially for her.
Burrell notes that William likes to treat her “as his wife, not as a princess.”
“Both his father and his grandfather fell into that tradition. They both had jewelry made for their wives on a special occasion,” Burrell reveals.
“They do have date nights outside their anniversary,” Burrell said on behalf of Spin Genie. They take private time out for just the two of them. They will just have a nice, romantic candlelit dinner for themselves.”
“They make a special effort to do that because their life is such a public one. They treasure the private moments,” he added.
It’s safe to say the pair’s low-key celebration is set to be a special one, considering the difficult start to the year Middleton faced following her abdominal surgery and subsequent cancer diagnosis.
Kensington Palace declined to comment.
William famously popped the all-important question to Middleton on Oct. 20, 2010.
The pair had been dating for eight years prior to the engagement, and first met during their respective stints at the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2001.
But news of their engagement only became public knowledge on Nov. 16, 2010, when Middleton debuted the sparkler that once belonged to William’s late mother, Princess Diana.
