Walgreens keeps selling out of mango gummy candy — and Gen Zers are desperate: ‘WE NEED MORE’

How sweet it is.

Walgreens can’t keep up with young people’s demand for its in-house mango gummy candy with a peelable exterior.

Bags of the Nice! brand’s tiny, squishy nosh — which retails for $1.99 — can’t stay stocked long enough at the chain’s pharmacies across the US.

The sweet treat has been routinely selling out since being introduced last fall, CNN reported.

The secondhand gummy market is even peddling them online — for upwards of $40.

“They’re so fun to eat,” TikTok influencer Trinh Carreon said in January of the candy that’s been “all over social media.” The National Confectioners Association confirmed that both Gen Z and millennials are its largest market.

Carreon’s one-minute assessment of the “really good” mochi-like snack — the outside is coarse while its innards are juicy — got nearly 9 million views. Meanwhile, Walgreens is piggybacking on the shock success.

The store reposted her video on TikTok with the caption, “We’re loving everyone’s reaction to our Nice! Mango Gummy Peelable Candy.”

Many in the hungry online audience begged for an urgent restocking, with comments ranging from “Have been to 6 different walgreens with no luck” to a more desperate “WE NEED MORE.”

Rest assured, more are coming in May, Marty Esarte, Walgreens vice president of owned brands, told CNN.

“Literally in about four to five days after we launched it, we sold through nearly all of the product,” he said.

“If we had expected that to happen, we probably would have had more.”

Esarte, who was tipped off that the trendy treat was soaring in Asia last year, chalks up the candy’s viral moment to its “interactivity” component in peeling them.

“It also creates a discussion point: Is the outer layer better than the inner gummy, or are they better together or separate?”

Carreon preferred the inside separately from the out.

She and others may be scrambling for even more treats in the near future.

Along with the much-awaited May resupply, Walgreens is “launching a peelable banana gummy next,” Esarte added.

“Banana is a common favorite flavor across the US and the world, and we think it’s another great item to add to the peelable gummy mix.”

Walgreens already offers pineapple and orange gummies, but those can’t be peeled.
