Cowboys to re-sign Ezekiel Elliott after one-year split

Zeke is back with The ’Boys.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys have agreed to terms on a reunion pending a physical, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.

The 28-year-old Elliott was in Dallas on Wednesday to discuss a potential return after a strong campaign with New England last season.

Although a deal did not come out of the initial meeting, the Cowboys reunited with Elliott after they failed to address the running back position in the 2024 draft.

The Cowboys needed help in the backfield after they also lost Pro Bowl running back Tony Pollard, who signed a three-year deal with the Titans in March.

A first-round pick (No. 4 overall) by the Cowboys in the 2016, Elliott played in Dallas through the 2022 season, earning three Pro Bowl nods while leading the league in rushing twice (2016 and 2018).

He is the franchise’s third leading rusher all time.

Elliott was released in March 2023 and signed with the Patriots last August for one season.

He finished with 642 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 184 carries for the Patriots in 2023 — and added 51 receptions for 313 yards and two more scores.

Elliott, who turns 29 in July, joins a backfield in Dallas that currently features Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Royce Freeman, Malik Davis, Snoop Conner and Nathaniel Peat.
