It was a “dreamy” post-NFL draft “escape” for new Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy and his fiancée, Katya Kuropas.
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, McCarthy and Kuropas recapped their recent getaway to Baha Mar in the Bahamas, roughly a week after Minnesota selected the former Michigan quarterback 10th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“Grateful for this dreamy escape at #BahaMarResorts with my love,” the 21-year-old McCarthy shared of the couple’s luxurious getaway, which featured epic views of the tropical paradise and a stop at Flamingo Cay.
In photos from the trip, McCarthy can be seen kissing Kuropas’ cheek on the balcony in one snap while posing for a bathroom selfie in another.
It’s been a whirlwind spring for McCarthy, the fifth quarterback taken in last month’s 2024 NFL Draft.
The Vikings selected the national champion-winning quarterback after veteran Kirk Cousins left for the Falcons in free agency.
McCarthy was taken in the first round after Caleb Williams (No. 1 to the Bears), Jayden Daniels (No. 2 to the Commanders), Drake Maye (No. 3 to the Patriots) and Michael Penix Jr. (No. 8 to the Falcons).
“A dream come true,” Kuropas, 21, gushed on Instagram after the draft.
Together since high school, McCarthy announced his engagement to Kuropas in January — the same month he declared for the NFL draft.
“To my love, Katya… you are my soulmate, best friend, and my rock,” McCarthy wrote in a statement on social media.
“I am so blessed to be your partner now and forever. I am so excited to continue this journey together.”
Although McCarthy’s NFL journey has officially begun with the Vikings, team brass has no plans “to rush his development.”
“We’re just going to do what’s best for the Vikings in the short and long term,” Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said in late April, according to ESPN.
The Vikings signed former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold to a one-year deal in free agency.
