Ben Simmons came ready to play this time.
The oft-injured Nets point guard arrived at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a Thom Browne-designed outfit.
Simmons wore a suit and carried a briefcase that had a clock on it, rounding out the fit with black dress shoes.
The stylish look appeared to be part of Browne’s fall 2024 “nevermore” collection.
Simmons’ Browne outfit was part of this year’s Met Gala theme that comes from the 2024 Costume Institute exhibition at the Met called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
The exhibit will show delicate wardrobes, dubbed “sleeping beauties” — which are not typically shown — in glass cases.
“When an item of clothing enters our collection, its status is changed irrevocably. What was once a vital part of a person’s lived experience is now a motionless ‘artwork’ that can no longer be worn or heard, touched, or smelled. The exhibition endeavors to animate these artworks by re-awakening their sensory capacities through a range of technologies, affording visitors sensorial ‘access’ to rare historical garments and rarefied contemporary fashions,” Andrew Bolton, curator in charge of The Costume Institute, said in a statement in April.
While it’s not clear if Simmons has previously worn any of Browne’s looks, the designer has promoted his work that Clippers star Russell Westbrook wore for System Magazine in April.
Westbrook also rocked a sleeveless look created by Browne at Vanity Fair’s 2024 Oscars party in March.
Simmons, the talented guard acquired in February 2022 in the James Harden trade with the 76ers, has not played as much as the Nets have hoped, suiting up in only 57 of 192 possible regular-season games since coming to Brooklyn.
In 2023-24, he played in 15 games before being shut down in March with a nerve impingement in his lower back that required surgery.
The issue also brought both knee and leg issues that largely kept him off the court this past season.
However, The Post’s Brian Lewis reported the Nets are not planning to move on from Simmons, but instead have plans for him for the 2024-25 season.
In what is the final year of his contract, he is set to make $40 million.
