‘When Calls the Heart’ star Mamie Laverock, 19, on life support after five-story balcony fall
Hallmark star Mamie Laverock, 19, is on life support after falling five stories from a balcony walkway.
According to the GoFundMe campaign helmed by her family, after spending two weeks in “intensive treatment” in the hospital due to an unspecified medical emergency earlier in May, Laverock “was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” per the fundraiser page.
The campaign was set up by her parents, Rob and Nicole Compton.
“She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries and is currently on life support,” Laverock’s parents wrote.
“We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”
The campaign explains that on May 11, the “When Calls the Heart” actress was transported by her mother to a Winnipeg hospital. It did not specify why, aside from writing that she had a “medical emergency.”
She was then transferred to a Vancouver hospital, where she would stay “upwards of a month or more.”
Her parents continued to update that her recovery was “unclear,” but her condition at the time was, “alive and is showing signs of improvement.”
However, on Tuesday, her GoFundMe campaign — which raised over 15,000 CAD to date — had a further update.
Her parents shared that on May 26, Laverock “was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories,” leaving her in critical condition.
Before “When Calls the Heart,” Laverock made her debut in the 2012 rom-com “This Means War” starring Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine. She also appeared in “A Series of Unfortunate Events.”
“When Calls the Heart” (airing Sundays at 9 p.m.) is based on a series of books of the same name, and has aired on Hallmark since 2014. It follows a teacher (Erin Krakow) working in a small coal mining town.
Laverock stars as Rosaleen Sullivan, a nursing student whose father was killed in a mining accident. Between 2014 and 2023, she appeared in nine episodes.
The show’s star, Krakow, 39, took to Instagram asking her followers to donate to the fund. “I just donated,” she wrote with a broken heart emoji. “If you have the means to do so, I hope you will too. Link in bio.”
Johannah Newmarch, who plays Laverock’s on-screen mother Molly Sullivan, also posted about Laverock on X (formerly Twitter).
“I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can,” Newmarch, 52, wrote on May 27. “They need all the support they can get to make it through this.”
When The Post reached out to Hallmark Media for comment, they replied in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie. As a beloved member of our ‘When Calls the Heart’ community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort and many prayers during this difficult time.”
