GQ’s 1995 ‘overrated’ pop culture list roasted 3 decades later: ‘Wow, this really aged poorly’

That’s so 1995!

A resurfaced GQ magazine list from the ’90s deeming “overrated” popular trends and people has been roasted and gone viral on Reddit.

People are expressing their shock at who, what and where had their moment and were deemed unworthy of praise by the magazine.

The “1995 Overrated List” was described as a list of the “81 people, places and things utterly unworthy of the praise and respect they’d received.”

“There’s still a lot of mediocrity and outright crap out there that’s getting a free ride … But not here,” the team at GQ insisted.

The list was comprised of many celebrities, places and more that are either still relevant (Righteousness about Ticketmaster), random and harmless (lattes) or now patently offensive (Demi Moore’s body), which many people agreed did not deserve the criticism.

“Wow, this really aged poorly,” a Redditor summed up the rundown in the comments, while another simply labeled it “silly.”

The GQ September 1995 cover featured NFL player Steve Young seemingly walking on water.

One naysayer offered, “They lost me at white power ranger,” while another geek was actually thrilled “that Alan Greenspan and CNBC made the list.”

Meanwhile, another reader suspected that the rundown was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, saying: “This article is a joke. It’s not meant to be serious.”
