Teens twerk on cop car, 1 shot in Long Beach, LI, as unruly crowd causes chaos during ‘senior skip day’
One person was shot in Long Beach, Long Island, Thursday evening as a massive, rowdy crowd of teenagers took over the beach during “senior skip day,” according to police sources.
A swarm of more than 2,000 high school seniors cut class and converged on the Nassau County beach, and the scene had descended into mayhem by 6 p.m.
The shenanigans included a fight, gunfire and students twerking on a police car, according to sources and video from the scene.
One teen was shot at the train station and two teens were in custody Thursday night, sources said.
Cops also recovered a gun from the scene.
The victim’s condition and identity were not immediately known.
Police were also seen responding to a nearby pizzeria — possibly in response to a brawl.
Cops in the city of 35,000 had to call in Nassau County police for backup to manage the huge crowd.
A shocking video captured one of the rowdy beach-goers twerking on the hood of a Nassau County police cruiser.
Another clip shows hundreds of people swarming the sand and climbing a lifeguard stand.
Sources said the unruly chaos was the result of an annual, unofficial “senior skip day” gathering organized by students from high schools all over the county and Queens.
