Ben Rice delivers fitting reply to first-ever Yankee Stadium roll call

Fittingly, Ben Rice eats.

The Yankees first baseman, promoted for his debut Tuesday, displayed a name-appropriate response to the Bleacher Creatures’ roll call.

When the chants reached Rice in the first inning Tuesday in The Bronx, he turned around, used his glove as a dish and mimed scooping food into his mouth with his right hand.

The 25-year-old, known for his bat, was called up in the wake of the injury to Anthony Rizzo.

Rice came up through the system primarily as a catcher but has gotten time at first, which carved him a route to the majors in a series-opener against the Orioles.

Rice appeared hungry for the opportunity, getting his first big league hit in the third inning with a single.

He ended up going 1-for-4 in the Yankees’ 4-2 win over the Orioles.
