Biden admits, ‘I know I’m not a young man’ in new battleground state ad after debate disaster

President Biden says, “I know I’m not a young man” in a new campaign ad released Monday, attempting to dispel worry about his ghastly debate performance that left many wondering if he will end his re-election bid.

The 60-second ad, titled “I know,” will run in battleground states, according to his campaign, and specifically target younger audiences — a demographic that polling shows has been ditching its support of the 81-year-old prez.

“Folks, I know I’m not a young man. But I know how to do this job. I know right from wrong. I know how to tell the truth,” the incumbent says in the ad.

“And I know, like millions of Americans know, when you get knocked down, you get back up.”

Biden’s remarks in the campaign spot were pulled from his Friday rally in Raleigh, NC, where he doubled down on his re-election bid and tried to steady his support after Democrats frantic with worry over his freezing and mumbling during his televised CNN debate against GOP foe Donald Trump on Thursday.

The president appeared stronger and more forceful Friday, in stark contrast with his appearance at the debate — but Biden was aided by a teleprompter and a friendly crowd during the North Carolina speech. The rally was also held in the afternoon. According to Axios, Biden functions best between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The octogenarian had spent seven days at Camp David away from the public eye to prep for the debate with the help of his closest aides.

But no amount of preparation could prevent Biden from devolving into a ball of confusion, pauses and strange facial expressions — a mix so alarming that even some prominent Democrats and liberal newspapers such as the New York Times called on him to suspend his campaign.

The ad does not show any footage of Biden at the debate, instead featuring video of Trump on the stage and his actions relating to the Jan. 6 riot.

“Did you see Trump last night? I mean this sincerely – the most lies told in a single debate,” Biden says in the ad.

“He lied about the great economy he created. He lied about the pandemic he botched. And then his biggest lie: He lied about how he had nothing to do with the insurrection on January 6,” the president goes on.

Both Trump and Biden made several falsehoods during the debate, with the former president often inflating numbers about the economy and immigration and Biden falsely claiming Trump wants to get rid of Social Security.

Biden is continuing to push through with his campaign and is being helped by first lady Jill Biden and son Hunter, according to the New York Times.

Jill Biden appeared on the cover of Vogue on Monday and told the outlet that they “will not let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been president” and that they “will continue to fight.”

Other Democrat allies are also doing damage control for the president. His campaign said Biden allies held more than 1,500 events across the country over the weekend to mobilize support for the president after the debate, touting Biden’s record.

“Americans deserve a president who doesn’t back down from a fight, and that’s Joe Biden,” Biden-Harris 2024 Communications Director Michael Tyler said in a a statement. “That is the spirit that this country was built upon, and it’s what President Biden carries with himself every single day in his job as Commander-in-Chief.

“Donald Trump stands against every value that our country stands for. He’s a liar, a crook, and he will always put himself first,” the statement said. “The American people deserve better than Trump’s failed leadership and trademark lies, and this ad is just one more way we will be making the choice they will face at the ballot box this November all the more clear.”
