Christopher, who diedĀ in 2004 at the age of 52, first played the role of Clark Kent-Superman in Richard Donner’s 1978 film.Ā

Heā€™d go on to star in its three sequels: 1980ā€™s ā€œSuperman II,ā€ 1983ā€™s ā€œSuperman IIIā€ and 1987ā€™s ā€œSuperman IV: The Quest for Peace.ā€

The actor was paralyzed from the neck down in 1995 after being thrown from a horse during an equestrian competition.

He spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair and used a ventilator to help him breathe.

Christopher had son Will with his wife, Dana Reeve, who died of lung cancer just two years after his death.

He had two other kids, Matthew Reeve, 44, and Alexandra Reeve, 40, with his first partner, Gae Exton.

Will is a journalist and ABC News correspondent. He’s also a board member of theĀ Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, an organization dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by advancing research.

He got candid with People in 2016 about growing up with his famous dad, despite the latterā€™s disability.

“I understand that not every child experiences going to the grocery store and seeing their dad on the magazine at the checkout aisle, butā€¦it was a totally normal childhood,” he said.

Will went on: “My parents did such a good job of staying true to their values that I never felt deprived of a normal childhood, even though my experiences, at face value, were inherently different from other children my age.”
