Boredom got the best of Joe Burrow.
The Bengals star quarterback, who arrived at training camp Tuesday by debuting a bleach-blonde haircut, had just three words to explain the new look.
“I got bored,” Burrows, 27, said during his media availability after practice on Wednesday.
Bengals defensive tackle B.J. Hill may be next to rock the new look.
Burrow, who typically goes with a combover, explained that he had a bet with his teammate.
“B.J. said that if I buzzed it and bleached it, he would do it too,” Burrow explained. “So now everybody’s got to hold him accountable because he’s got to do it in the next week.
“We need the fans and the media to hold him accountable if he doesn’t do it. So I’m counting on you guys.”
Burrow’s buzzer has generated plenty of shock and hilarity on social media.
From comparisons to early-2000s Eminem to WWE champion Cody Rhodes, fans and the NFL are having a field day, including comments from his own team.
“Guess who’s back,” the Bengals X account posted with a picture of Burrow, making reference to the 2000 hit, “Without Me” by Eminem.
“I think this is probably temporary,” Burrow added. “I’ll let it grow out, see what it looks like, little frosted tips. I don’t know. We’ll see.”
While it remains to be seen if the haircut will stick for the season, this isn’t the first time the 2020 No. 1 overall draft pick has sported a platinum buzzcut.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the man who has long been dubbed “Joe Cool,” rocked a similar hairstyle during his high school football days at Athens High School in Ohio.
Clearly, he’s a guy who sets his own style.
Cincinnati star receiver and Burrow’s former LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase also strutted into training camp flaunting a fresh cut.
Ditching his famed braids, the wideout also showed off a buzzcut, just a bleach away from matching his QB.
As one of the best-dressed stars in the NFL, Burrow’s cut comes as no surprise.
After the Bengals clinched a Super Bowl 2022 berth — the third in franchise history — the QB donned a black turtleneck and a diamond “JB9” chain, telling reporters, “I make too much money” to wear fake diamonds.
Burrow, coming off a 2023-24 season littered with injuries, begins a pivotal year in Cincinnati against the Patriots during Week 1 on Sept. 8.
