Observations from the Jets training camp practice on Friday.
Jets training day
Taylor’s Swift
WR Malik Taylor had a strong day.
He saw more action with Xavier Gipson not practicing, and he caught a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers in a red-zone period and one from Tyrod Taylor during seven-on-seven.
Taylor is a long shot to make the roster, but he started making his case.
Measly Peasley
Third-string quarterback Andrew Peasley had a rough practice.
Peasley, a rookie from Wyoming, threw three interceptions during the practice.
Jaylen Key, Jackson Sirmon and Nehemiah Shelton all picked him off.
Caught my eye
There seems to be a strong bond forming between WR Garrett Wilson and new wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson.
The two spend time on a separate field during special teams periods working on drills one-on-one.
Wilson spoke enthusiastically about getting to know Jefferson.
Rodgers Report
The King of Cairo had another strong day on Friday.
He completed 6-of-8 passes and two touchdown passes in the 11-on-11 periods.
He was 4-for-4 in seven-on-seven drills.
Rodgers quick release was on display during two red zone periods that resulted in touchdowns.
Injury Report
WR Gipson is out for one to two weeks with what coach Robert Saleh would only call a “lower extremity” injury. Gipson left Thursday’s practice early.
He was on the sideline watching Friday.
OL Jake Hanson also was out of practice.
LT Tyron Smith did not practice, but it was a scheduled rest day.
