Simone Biles hits back at Olympics hair critics on social media

Simone Biles fired shots at anyone criticizing her hair as Team USA’s women’s gymnastics competed in the team event at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday.

With Biles as the closer, Team USA cruised to the gold medal.

Perhaps seeing some snide comments on social media, or perhaps anticipating them, Biles posted on her Instagram story from the team bus on Tuesday with an explanation of the extenuating circumstances she was facing.

“don’t come for me about my hair. IT WAS DONE but bus has NO AC & it’s like 9,0000 degrees,” Biles wrote. “oh & a 45 min ride.”

In a second slide, Biles added, “gonna hold your hand when I say this — next time you wanna comment on a black girls hair. JUST DON’T.”

The Daily Mail found about a dozen users on X who earlier this week had offered unsolicited advice to Biles on how to handle her hair, including one who said she put it in a “ballet bun” because “her messy hair is unacceptable”.

Another said that she “always looks like she woke up late, said f–k it, I’m Simone f–king Biles, and just tossed it up there.”

This is the second time that Biles has fired back at critics in recent weeks.

In an early episode of her new Netflix docuseries, “Simone Biles Rising,” Biles responded to a social media user who said she “choked” when she suffered from a bout of the “Twisties” during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Biles shot back that the writer was “sitting on your couch watching me from home. OK.”

“I really don’t need your two cents,” she continued, as covered by the Laredo Morning Times. “And not your two cents because you guys can’t even do a cartwheel.”
