Prince Harry spoke to the Spencer family after uncle Robert Fellowes’ death: report

Prince Harry has reached out to his late mother Princess Diana‘s family following his uncle Robert Fellowes death, according to a report.

Lord Fellowes, who was married to Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, and served for a time as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s private secretary, died of undisclosed causes on July 29. He was 82.

Since hearing the news, the Duke of Sussex is believed to have spoken to his aunt and his cousins, as well as Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, Us Weekly reports.

Charles, 60, took to social media to pay tribute to Fellowes on Wednesday.

“My absolutely exceptional brother-in-law, Robert, is no longer with us,” he wrote on X. “A total gentleman – in all the best meanings of that word – he was a man of humor, wisdom & utter integrity. I’m deeply proud to have been his brother-in-law.”

Harry has maintained a close relationship with the Spencer family over the years — even after he quit royal life in 2020 and moved to the US with his wife Meghan Markle.

The father of two met up with Charles and Lady Jane, 67, in May during the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games in London.

The duke was pictured hugging the pair as they arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral for the event. However, Harry did not meet up with any members of the royal family during the three-day trip.

Harry is yet to speak out publicly about Fellowes’ death and it’s not yet clear if he plans on attending a memorial service in the UK.

The Post has reached out to Harry’s reps for comment.

British courtier Fellowes had a firm place within the royal fold and was considered one of Queen Elizabeth II’s most trusted advisers during his tenure between 1990 and 1999.

Fellowes advised the late Queen on the divorces of three of her children, as well as on Diana’s death in 1997.

Lord Fellowes was married to Lady Jane Fellowes for 46 years, until his death. At their lavish wedding in 1978, the late Princess of Wales served as a bridesmaid.

The couple went on to welcome three children: Alexander Robert, 41, Eleanor Ruth, 38, and Laura Jane, 44, who is Princess Charlotte’s godmother.

He rose the ranks at Buckingham Palace to become deputy private secretary in 1986, before taking over the reins from Sir William Heseltine as private secretary four years later.

Fellowes left his post as private secretary to the Queen in February 1999 and returned to his previous position in the private sector, as a banker.

Fellowes boasted a close friendship with Harry and William, attending the Prince and Princess of Wales’ wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

He continued to be close to both now-estranged brothers and attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018.
