Weird But True

I spotted a giant gorilla on my son’s baby monitor — this is what it really was

This mom’s animal instincts were way off.

Maddy Moore, 26, was left terrified after looking at her baby monitor and seeing a “giant gorilla” standing in her living room.

The mama, who resides in Mesa, Arizona, recently put her one-year-old son Weston down for a nap before stepping outside to tan.

While soaking up the sun, Moore checked the baby monitor which was set up in her living room and got the fright of her life.

She recalled the incident in a viral video that has garnered over 30 million views, writing: “Just checking my baby monitor to find a huge gorilla in my living room?! I never moved so fast to go and see.”

The mortified mom subsequently revealed that there was no ape in her living room.

Rather, it was an embarrassing optical illusion.

“There was literally nothing in there so I was thinking maybe my monitor got hacked and I’m kind of freaking out more,” the mama told Kennedy News.

Moore subsequently realized the monitor wasn’t hacked, nor was she hallucinating.

Instead, it was little Weston’s toy gorilla that had been seen on the monitor.

Moore realized the gorilla was placed nearby the camera giving off a larger than life appearance. KennedyNews/MaddyMoore

“I walked by the camera closely and that’s when I saw the tiny gorilla. It was one of his zoo animal toys,” she chuckled.

“It’s such a tiny toy but on the camera it looks huge. It looked so realistic on the picture — it literally looked like a real gorilla. For a split second, I did think ‘are we in real danger?'” Moore continued.

Moore wasn’t the only person deceived by the optical illusion.

“My flabbers were gasted because why does it look so real?” confessed a watcher.

“With all the chaos in the world…these days you just never really know what to expect anymore,” another declared.
