2 injured after gunman shoots SUV driver in chaotic Queens shooting: NYPD
A gunman shot an SUV driver on a Queens street Saturday morning and a second man was wounded by a bullet that may have been fired by a responding cop, police said.
The chaotic incident unfolded at 89th Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights around 3:15 a.m., when an armed man shot into a black Toyota SUV, with the bullet striking a 44-year-old inside, police said.
A police officer who responded to the scene fired one round from his weapon, but it wasn’t clear if his bullet struck anyone, cops said.
The 44-year-old shot by the gunman was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, cops said.
A second man, 28, was shot in the groin and taken to the same hospital.
It wasn’t clear whose bullet struck him, cops said.
The gunman took off and no arrests were made.
The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division was looking into the incident, a police spokesman said. The specialized unit investigates possible police involved shootings.
