‘It Ends With Us’ blooms in No. 1 box office spot
“It Ends With Us,” debuted in the No. 1 box office spot Friday, grossing $24 million, according to The Numbers.
The romantic novel-turned-movie tells the tale of a woman named Lily Bloom, played by Blake Lively, who moves to Boston to open a flower business called Lily’s Blooms when she gets involved in a tumultuous relationship with Justin Baldoni’s character, Ryle Kincaid.
The Post said the movie was “not very good by most known metrics of quality,” but it’s also full of drama — there are rumors of cast tension behind the scenes.
“Deadpool & Wolverine,” a movie co-starring Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, dropped a spot from last week to No. 2.
The comic-book movie, which has notched a number of enviable achievements — a record opening sum for R-rated films and a spot in the top 10 openings of all time — earned $15.7 million on Friday.
“Twisters,” a reboot about competing storm chasing teams, got chased down to No. 3 this week from No. 2 last week, with earnings of $4.4 million.
“Borderlands,” the video game movie that has an expansive Hollywood cast including Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Hart, brought in a cool $4 million on Friday.
This comes despite its turn as “the worst movie of the year,” according to The Post.
Rounding out the top five was “Despicable Me 4,” the latest Minions movie starring Steve Carell. It raked in $2.5 million.
