Simon Cowell’s former partner, Sinitta, alleged that the former “American Idol” judge secretly married his fiancé, Lauren Silverman. However, she’s now clarifying her comments.
“When asked, I playfully responded by pretending to be confused and joked, ‘Wait, aren’t they already married? I’m pretty sure they are?’ My intention was to deflect the question with humor, not to suggest that they had secretly married,” she told The Post.
Sinitta added, “To be clear, if they had married in private and I were aware of it, I would respect their privacy and not disclose such information.”
Sinitta, who dated Cowell from 1982-1984, has remained friends with the music mogul over the past 20 years.
During a recent interview with Woman’s Magazine, Sinitta was asked if Cowell, 64, had set a wedding date with Silverman, per The Sun.
She responded, “Oh, are they not married yet?”
Sinitta continued, “I’m not saying anything, but I’m sure they are married. I call her Mrs. Cowell anyway, so they may as well be.”
The Post reached out to Simon’s rep for comment.
Cowell proposed to Silverman in 2021 during a trip to Barbados. The couple share a 10-year-old son, Eric.
Sinitta’s revelation comes two months after the “America’s Got Talent” judge opened up about his private battle with depression.
On a June episode of the “Diary of a CEO” podcast, Cowell recounted how he struggled following his mother’s death in 2015, after already having lost his father in 1999.
He noted that her passing sent him into a “spiral,” which led him to feel as though he was “dying inside.”
Cowell added, “I was on a downward spiral at that point.”
“I lost everyone, you know,” he recalled. “I’ve lost my parents. It’s finality now. What I said about the material things I’ve got, everything just meant nothing at that point.”
And throughout the heartache, Cowell was still on television and had to put on a smile for the viewers.
“I felt like a clown because I’m dying inside,” he shared, “and yet I’ve still got to do what I’m being paid to do as best as I could.”
Cowell detailed his mindset during that time, admitting that he had “put on a ton of weight, I was eating junk.”
“If I had got hit by a bus the following day, I’d be dead, but I wasn’t worried about anything like that,” he said. “I wasn’t particularly enjoying my work and I just thought, ‘You know what? I’m just going to become a vampire.’ And I would work through until 7 or 8 in the morning.”
And that type of sleep schedule stuck for the record executive.
“I would wake up at 2 or 3 in the afternoon and I got addicted to that kind of lifestyle.” continued Cowell. “I just loved the intensity.”
The entrepreneur confessed that due to his tremendous grief, he wasn’t able to be content with his life.
As Cowell put it: “It was almost like because of the loss I’d had, I’ve got to find something else to fill it. I was very successful but I wasn’t happy, I really, really wasn’t happy.”
However, the reality TV star was able to find the light at the end of the tunnel when Silverman became pregnant with their son in 2013.
“It changed everything in my life. It made me happy again,” Cowell shared. “Without question [his son Eric saved me]. I really had reached the point where nothing mattered. Even to the point that I almost can’t remember everything from that period.”
In September, Cowell took a moment to reflect on if his mini-me would follow in his talented footsteps.
“You bet!” he joked to E! News at the time. “I mean, I did say to him tonight, ‘Trust me, you are filling Daddy’s footsteps in a few years’ time.'”
All jokes aside, Cowell took a moment to gush over Eric.
“He’s my life,” he shared. “I love him so much and the fact that he loves the show as well. I mean, it’s everything I could have hoped for.”
