Sports betting influencers locked in heated social media feud: ‘Straight robbery’

A pair of sports betting influencers are feuding over who gets to take their show on the road.

Lucy Burdge, a sports betting host for Audacy, called out Taylor Mathis, a social media influencer in the field, over her walking bets schtick, claiming Mathis stole her idea of analyzing her bets during a stroll.

“The part where her videos are straight robbery from me,” Burdge wrote on X on Thursday in response to screenshots from a Barstool Sports video in which CEO Dave Portnoy called out one of his employee’s poor viewership numbers.

Mathis commented on the Barstool Instagram clip — “Walking bets get more views” with a shrug emoji — setting off a social media war.

“@TMathSports steals all her content,” an X user wrote. “She’s a fraud. Lucy finally called her out.”

“Had to. Enough is enough,” Burdge responded.

Mathis, who has more than 125,000 followers on X and 270,000 followers on Instagram, was taken aback by Burdge’s comments, taking to X to express her frustrations with the spat.

“being torn down publicly by another women in the industry was not on my agenda today,” she wrote on X. “I thought Lucy and I were good, i try to support her content and never once claimed she didn’t do walking bets first. Seeing the comments and welcoming ppl to talk about another woman that way.”

The back-and-forth between the two sports betting personalities may have become too much altogether for Mathis.

“Have the walking bets come to a conclusion?” Mathis said on X. “The internet drama surrounding it is really not my cup of tea. I never once claimed Lucy wasn’t doing walking bets first. I didn’t think it would cause problems.”

But just a few hours later, Mathis was right back at it, posting a “walking bets” video with five of her favorite MLB bets for Thursday’s slate.

“I started this morning a little down in the dumps,” she said. “But you know what, I talked to my mom, I’m just gonna be me, gonna be myself, and do my thing.”
