Tim Walz throws a ‘Hail Kamala’ pass: Letters to the Editor — Aug. 24, 2024

The Issue: Vice Prez nominee Tim Walz’s first major address at the Democratic National Convention.

Vice-presidential nominee and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz spoke Wednesday night about Sen. J.D. Vance attending and graduating from Yale Law School (“Coach Walzes out with no Kam playbook,” Aug. 22).

Yet it’s worth noting that both Clintons graduated from Yale Law, and both of the Obamas went to Harvard Law.

Apparently, when a Democratic politician graduates from Princeton, Yale or Harvard, that person should be lauded.

But according to Walz, when a Republican graduates from Yale Law, this individual is suspect.
Marine veteran Vance pulled himself up by the bootstraps from poverty in life.

He graduated from Yale Law, became a US senator from Ohio, and perhaps a future vice president of the United States.

Does anyone find it weird they keep calling Gov. Tim Walz “coach?”

The DNC has been touting his record as a high school assistant coach from decades ago, instead of his record as governor of Minnesota.

Perhaps his record wouldn’t be popular with voters if they knew he defunded the police and allowed protesters to run amok in Minneapolis.

If you want another four years of this nightmare go vote for Harris and Walz.

This week at the DNC, neither Vice President Kamala Harris nor Tim Walz gave us a coherent plan for America’s success for the next four years.

Bashing Donald Trump is not a plan for success.

My understanding of Walz is very simple: Considering his track record of dishonesty, he is on the level of former Rep. George Santos.

Well, at least Trump was smart enough not to pick Santos as his running mate.

The Issue: Mayor Adams’ not being allocated a speaking role at the Democratic National Convention.

Mayor Adams, the self-proclaimed “Biden of Brooklyn” was conspicuously snubbed from any speaking role at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago (“Hizzoner’s dishonor,” Aug. 21).

Even Gov. Hochul got to speak on the second day.

That’s such unfair and insulting treatment to show a party faithful, who had used New York’s sanctuary city status to throw out the welcome mat for thousands of migrants, provided lodging, clothing, health care and education which cost taxpayers billions.

Apparently, Adams isn’t even worthy of a cameo appearance or honorable mention because he has nothing more to offer the party after inconveniencing and expensing New Yorkers since 2022.

Adams can now borrow the famous Rodney Dangerfield one-liner: “I don’t get no respect” after being snubbed as a DNC speaker.

The mayor thought he could roll out the red carpet for migrants and have it paid for by the government.

But to his chagrin, he received silence in return from the White House.

This is what you get when you bring attention to the migrant crisis by asking for money from Washington.
