Anti-Israel protesters block traffic after DNC, scream at drivers about supporting Palestine
CHICAGO – Anti-Israel protesters accosted Democratic National Convention attendees as they were leaving the event late Thursday, blocking traffic and confronting motorists about “whose side they are on” in the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.
A handful of mask-wearing anti-Israel demonstrators stood in the middle of the street outside Union Park after a larger protest ended — snarling traffic and leaving drivers incensed, video captured by The Post showed.
“Whose side are you on? Why are you guys ignoring a f—ing genocide?” one of the traffic blockers screamed at a casually-dressed driver.
The exasperated SUV driver was overheard saying on his phone, “nobody gives a s—t about politics” before the protesters again demanded to know his view on the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.
The motorist revved his engine and finally nodded his head when they pressed him on the issue.
The demonstrator then stepped to the side and allowed him to pass through.
Another protester told a passenger to “shut the f—k up” when she told the troublemaker to go vote.
Others harassed convention attendees who were walking near the park, only a few blocks away from the United Center where the DNC took place this week.
“Shame! Shame on you! Shame on you!” protesters screamed at a woman who shielded her face with a Harris-Walz poster as she tried to get away from the depraved mob.
Three convention goers tried to stay mum as a pair of rabble-rousers accosted them.
“Genocide supporters! Look at them trying so hard to ignore!” the duo mocked.
“It’s easy,” one of the attendees snapped back.
Cops attempted to shove the protesters out of the way, with one officer shouting “you’re blocking traffic!”
One protester even headbutted a man who was trying to cross the street away from the crowd, a video shared by RAWS ALERTS showed.
“The world is burning alive! Your paycheck will not save you!” another demonstrator chanted at a woman behind the wheel of a white SUV.
One man in a red vehicle warned the protesters to “get the f–k away” – and eventually got out of his car to confront the rabble-rousers.
“I don’t give a f–k. That’s not my problem. You think we all don’t have problems?” he snapped at them when pressed on his political stance.
One woman protester could be heard screaming at DNC attendees, calling them “baby killers,” in reference to the thousands of children who have been killed or injured in the Israel-Hamas war.
The conflict in the Gaza Strip has divided Democrats for months – and anti-Israel protesters descended on the DNC throughout the four-day event.
Mary Tabar, 66, told The Post that many Palestine supporters were unsure about what to make of nominee Kamala Harris – who caught flak last month for skipping Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address before Congress.
“I don’t know because she’s said two conflicting things just recently — a lot of Palestinians are not voting for her,” Tabar said, growing emotional at times during the interview.
“She was saying, yes, we’re going to continue aid to Israel, but Palestinians need to be able to live or something,” she said, with a shrug suggesting she didn’t know what to make of that.
Thousands of protesters took to the streets before Vice President Harris’ formally accepted the party’s nomination on Thursday night.
“Israel is a terrorist state,” one protester yelled on a bullhorn near one of the DNC’s security checkpoints.
“As they officially nominate killer Kamala as the head of the stake, we are out here to say that nothing they say or do in that convention will wash the blood of Palestinian men, women, and children off their hands,” another told a park full of demonstrators.
Waving signs and Palestinian flags, protesters called for “intifada revolution.”
