Fall TV preview: 13 hottest TV shows to watch in late 2024

Fall is almost here, as September approaches.
Autumn of 2024 is a booming TV season, filled with must-see shows.
Big name stars such as Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Colin Farrell and Billy Crystal all have new projects coming out.
TV mainstays such as Joshua Jackson, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are all returning to the small screen.
And, they have various topics, from true crime to paranormal mysteries to medical shows.
Here are some hot new shows to look out for.
“The Perfect Couple”
Starring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber and Dakota Fanning, the mystery series is based on a best-selling novel by Elin Hilderbrand. The story follows a bride marrying into a wealthy Nantucket family, and how things go amiss when a dead body appears on a beach.
Where to watch: Sept. 5 on Netflix.
“Fight Night: Million Dollar Heist”
Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Hart, Terrence Howard, Chloe Bailey and Don Cheadle, the crime drama focuses on a heist the night that Muhammad Ali returned to boxing in 1970. It’s inspired by a real armed robbery.
Where to watch: Sept. 5 on Peacock.
“Three Women”
Starring Shailene Woodley and DeWanda Wise, this show is based on a 2019 book by Lisa Taddeo. The story follows Lina (Betty Gilpin), an unhappily married housewife who has an affair; Sloane (Wise), an entrepreneur in an committed open marriage; Maggie (Gabrielle Creevy), a student who accuses her married English teacher of an inappropriate relationship, and Gia (Woodley), a writer grieving the loss of her family, who convinces these women to tell their stories.
Where to watch: Sept.13 on Starz (10 p.m.).
“High Potential”
Starring Kaitlin Olson (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”), this crime drama follows a single mom who has a knack for solving crimes and ends up partnered with a seasoned detective, Karadec (Daniel Sunjata). Taran Killam (“SNL”) and Judy Reyes (“Scrubs”) also co-star.
Where to watch: Sept. 17 on ABC (10 p.m.).
“Agatha All Along”
Starring Kathryn Hahn, this Marvel series is the long-awaited spinoff to the 2021 miniseries “WandaVision.” It follows the title character (Hahn) who goes on a quest to get her powers back. Aubrey Plaza and Patti LuPone co-star.
Where to watch: Sept. 19 on Disney+.
“The Penguin”
Starring an unrecognizable Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (aka “The Penguin”), the eight-episode DC series expands on the story told in filmmaker Matt Reeves’ 2022 movie “The Batman,” which starred Robert Pattinson in the title role. The series follows Farrell’s character from the movie as he rises in the criminal underworld.
Where to watch: HBO (9 p.m.) and streaming on Max on Sept. 19.
“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”
Executive-produced by Ryan Murphy, “Monsters” is the next chapter of the true-crime anthology series that began with the smash hit “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” starring Evan Peters and Niecy Nash, who both won Golden Globes for their roles. “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” dramatizes the case of the real-life brothers (played by Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch) who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, José (Javier Bardem) and Mary Louise ‘Kitty’ Menendez (Chloe Sevigny).

“Doctor Odyssey”
Starring Joshua Jackson, this show follows a doctor aboard a luxury cruise ship who has to navigate high-stakes medical emergencies along with a wild staff. Don Johnson co-stars.
Where to watch: Sept. 26 on ABC (9 p.m.).
“Grotesquerie”
Helmed by Ryan Murphy, this star-studded show will feature Niecy Nash, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville. Kansas City Chiefs tight end (and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend) Travis Kelce will guest star. It’s a horror series about a series of heinous crimes that have unsettled a small community.
Premiere date: Sept. 25 on FX (10 p.m.) and streaming the next day on Hulu.
“Nobody Wants This”
Starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, this rom-com series follows the relationship between a rabbi (Brody) and an agnostic podcast host (Bell).
Where to watch: Sept. 26 on Netflix.
“Disclaimer”
Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline star in the Alfonso Cuaron-created miniseries. Based on a novel by Renee Knight, the story follows a journalist (Blanchett) who discovers that she’s a character in a novel that reveals a secret she wanted to hide.

“Before”
Starring Billy Crystal, who also executive-produced, the psychological thriller follows Eli (Crystal) a child psychiatrist who, after recently losing his wife, Lynn (Judith Light), encounters a troubled young boy with whom he discovers a mysterious bond. Rosie Perez co-stars.

“Landman”
Created by “Yellowstone” mastermind Taylor Sheridan, “Landman” stars Billy Bob Thornton and tells a story of “wildcat billionaires” in the world of oil rigs. Ali Larter (“Heroes”) and Demi Moore co-star, while Jon Hamm and Andy Garcia have guest roles.
