‘Beloved’ cat believed to be dead returns home — four days after supposedly being cremated

You’ve gotta be kitten!

A bereaved cat owner who thought the ‘beloved’ family pet had drowned was flabbergasted to see the little furball stroll through the door — four days after he’d been supposedly cremated.

Nicci Knight of North Yorkshire, England was vacationing in Turkey when neighbors initially called to say that her poor puss named Ted had died after tumbling into a local pond.

“I had to break the news to my husband and our four children and we were all absolutely devastated, because Ted is a huge personality and a beloved member of the family,” Knight told the BBC.

Still in the middle of her holiday, Knight was able to make arrangements with the Heavenly Pets Crematorium to have the unlucky tom turned to ashes.

But days later, the family’s petsitter, looking after another feline in the house, suddenly called Knight with shocking news — Ted had appeared back at the house, ambling through the cat door like nothing had happened.

“I didn’t believe it at first,” she said. “I had to get her to FaceTime me live so that I could see that Ted was actually alive.”

While there was an ecstatic moment that the four-legged family member was still scratching, Knight soon realized she had invested about $170 to have a strange cat cremated in a jar — which was subsequently re-labeled “not dead Ted.”

“So we do think it’s actually a stray cat, possibly a farm cat,” said Knight. “We are peaceful with the knowledge that we’ve given it a good send-off.”

The adventurous Ted, of course, has been carrying on like nothing happened.

“He’s completely oblivious,” she added.

“We still see him wandering over the road towards the neighbor’s garden, so we have to go and retrieve him because, you know, we don’t actually want him going into the pond.”

Talk about a purrfect ending.
