Chunky rescue cat named Crumbs weighed 38 pounds and was unable to walk: ‘They fed him to such a state’

A tubby tabby rescued from the basement of a Russian hospital was so unbelievably fat when animal refuge workers found him, he was unable to walk.
Kroshik, or “Crumbs,” may have been living in less than ideal conditions, but he definitely wasn’t starving — the giant-size ginger tipped the scales at a whopping 38 pounds.
The chonky kitty was existing on a diet of cookies and soup when his pudgy plight was discovered, Newsflash reported.
It’s believed that hospital staff enjoyed feeding him to the point where things went more than a little overboard.
“Kroshik’s story is an extremely rare case when someone loved a cat so much that they fed him to such a state,” a spokesperson for the Matroskin Shelter in Prem explained.
Vets at the shelter were apparently unable to get a proper ultrasound reading of the lardy lad during a medical check, due to the sheer amount of weight Kroshik was carrying.
Now, the portly puss has been put on a serious diet at the shelter, in hopes of bringing him back to his ideal poundage.
Most domestic cats should weigh around 10 lbs., according to WebMD — though this can vary by breed.
The beefy boy will even have to work out on a treadmill — once he’s able to walk, that is.
Earlier this year, a 28-pound chub with the “best belly in town” was discovered on the streets of Richmond, Va. and taken to a shelter.
Workers named him “One Frosty Too Many,” or Frosty for short, in reference to the popular sweet treat sold at Wendy’s.
Meanwhile, a cat named Moses in the UK has been placed on an aqua aerobics regimen to shed some of his 22 pounds.
“I could see a difference almost straightaway. It was difficult at first but now he doesn’t complain and knows exactly what he needs to do when he goes for his sessions,” said owner Jenna Joshi.
