Ryan Wesley Routh smirks in mug shot just days after foiled Trump assassination attempt
The suspect in the second foiled assassination plot against former president Donald Trump was photographed smirking in his mug shot released by officials Wednesday night.
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, of Hawaii, was pictured with his mouth turned upwards in a defiant smirk in the booking photo released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Routh has been slapped with federal gun charges for the attempted hit on Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course on Sunday.
The alleged would-be assassin was caught by Secret Service agents pointing an AK-47 through the fence along the perimeter of the golf course while Trump was a hole behind.
The agents opened fire and Routh fled in his car before ever pulling the trigger. He was pulled over on I-95 and arrested shortly after.
Trump said that he was “safe and well” following the second attempt on his life in a little more than two months.
