Olivia “Livvy” Dunne gave her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, a real Bronx cheer on Saturday afternoon.
Dunne, the LSU gymnast and social media sensation, didn’t actually mock her beau but gave him plenty of positive support early on when he pitched for the Pirates on the Yankee Stadium mound.
Before the game, Dunne showed on Instagram what she’d be wearing, including a black top, black shorts and white boots that spelled out “Pirates” on the front and “Skenes” on the back.
The NIL darling was shown on both the YES Network and Sportsnet Pittsburgh TV feeds as Skenes dominated in the first inning, as he struck out Juan Soto looking and Aaron Judge swinging in at-bats that included triple-digit fastballs.
Skenes struck out three in two perfect innings for the Pirates in an abbreviated outing for what will be his final outing of the year.
The superstar couple — and LSU attendees — became official last summer after Skenes was drafted first overall by the Pirates in the 2023 MLB Draft.
She’s been a presence at plenty of Skenes’ starts since he was called up to the big leagues this spring, including his one-inning start in Texas during the All-Star Game.
The two took the red carpet by storm, and after he pitched a scoreless frame against the American League, she was shown beaming and cheering.
Dunne recently revealed on the “Best of Both Worlds” podcast how she and Skenes met and became a couple.
“I met Paul and I would kind of see him around and I was like, ‘Who is this tall, mysterious guy?’ I literally had no clue who he was, but I would just see him around,” Dunne said. “Then, during baseball season, he wasn’t even playing that game [I was at], he was in the dugout.
“So I saw him in the dugout and I was like, ‘There he is.’ I thought, ‘He’s cute, I like that side profile.’ He didn’t have a mustache yet, so he wasn’t even the Paul Skenes that we all know and love yet. Mustaches, right? Right. So after that, I ended up following him [on social media] and we hung out, got ice cream, and it was chill.”
