Fired ‘GMA’ weatherman Rob Marciano set to join CBS News despite alleged ‘anger’ issues

Rob Marciano, the weatherman who was ousted by ABC News in April following an alleged angry outburst at a “Good Morning America” producer, has been hired by CBS News, according to a report.

Marciano, who had a reported history of “anger management issues” at the Disney-owned network, will join CBS News as part of its expanding weather network, Status newsletter reported Monday night.

It is unclear when the 56-year-old will begin his new gig. A rep for CBS News did not immediately return requests for comment on why it hired scandal-scarred Marciano.

According to Status, the veteran meteorologist maintained a good relationship with Wendy Fisher — the former ABC News executive who ran the network’s newsgathering operations — who is now heading up CBS News’ weather operation.

At the time of Marciano’s exit from ABC, sources claimed that the weatherman had a long history of blowups. The Post exclusively revealed that Marciano had a bitter feud with fellow meteorologist Ginger Zee, who one ABC insider said “brought out the worst in him.”

Following his exit, reports emerged that Marciano engaged in a “heated screaming match” with a “GMA” producer, which got back to Zee, the chief meteorologist of the show. Zee alerted her superiors, who reportedly viewed the outbust as “the last straw,” the Daily Beast reported at the time.

Page Six reported in 2023 that Marciano had been temporarily “banned” from the morning show’s studio after he made a colleague “feel uncomfortable.”

The report said Marciano was dealing with anger management issues while going through a divorce at the time, with one insider noting: “There was a period where there were some issues, a number of alarming events.”

Marciano didn’t return requests for comment at the time.

Following his exit from ABC, the Daily Beast learned more details about the 2023 incident, reporting that Marciano was pulled from the air at the time, after allegedly making “sexist” remarks to a female producer. The network made him take anger management courses, the outlet said.

Nonetheless, some of Marciano’s colleagues came to his defense, calling his firing “unexpected” and lauding his professionalism, according to People, with one source telling the magazine that the negative coverage of Marciano felt like a “hit job.”

Marciano became a senior meteorologist at ABC News in July 2014. He previously worked for “Entertainment Tonight” and CNN.
