‘RHOSLC’ stars Angie Katsanevas and Bronwyn Newport detail friendship with ‘fun’ Mary Cosby
Angie Katsanevas and Bronwyn Newport are reading Mary Cosby like a scripture — and they like what they’re getting.
The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” stars got candid about their newfound friendship with Cosby after the Church leader’s rocky prior seasons.
“I’ve only known this, Mary,” Newport exclusively told The Post at Warner Brothers’ Fall TV Season Celebration last week. “I’ve only known this really fun and really loving Mary. She was open to me from the beginning. I don’t know what everybody saw before. I think it was me. I brought this Mary out!”
Katsanevas echoed the newest housewife’s sentiments, sharing, “I think with Mary, this season, she just feels supported, she feels, she has friends. She’s having fun again. She’s herself.”
The reality star added, “I only knew Mary this last season, so I think her first couple of seasons were rough. And she has no reason not to trust Bronwyn or myself. So I think she has some real friends and sisterhood on the show, finally.”
As for how Newport feels entering the group of women in Season 5? Well, becoming the newest wife to hold a snowflake has its ups and downs.
“It is everything I expected and nothing I expected all at the same time,” the mom of one explained. “And so it was wild, but it was really good. And really, the only way I can explain it is it’s real friendships. And sometimes they’re good, and sometimes they’re hard, and sometimes they’re very, very bad. Sometimes, you’re the very, very bad one in a friendship, and we have to figure out what that looks like.”
Newport added, “Really, it’s two different things for me when we were filming the show, and I was trying to get to know everybody, that was one thing. And then watching the show back is something totally different in itself. So I cringe a lot about the things I see of myself on camera.”
Specifically, when it comes to Newport’s comebacks: “My mouth is reckless. I’m aware of that,” to which Katsanevas replied, “That’s the best part.”
“I tried to explain to somebody in an interview the other day; I think once you get to know me, I’m really a great friend, and I’m a lot of fun, and you understand how I talk,” reflected Newport. “But you have to really want to get to know me because I can be prickly to get to know. And I didn’t realize that about myself. It’s funny when you see yourself through a different lens.”
Adding what viewers can expect from her rookie season, the Utah resident expressed: “I think what you get with me is what you really would get in real life. I’m surprised always by how it’s taken. I love the fans who love your show and are like diehards or some of the ladies. Sometimes the commentaries part and that’s fair I have to hear it. But it’s been way more positive and amazing than anything else.”
This season, Katsanevas is celebrating herself, as she was given the center snowflake in the cast photo.
“Well, let me just tell you, like, I won’t lie. I was surprised. It’s my first season last year. I felt like I had to go through a lot to get to where I am today,” the salon owner shared. “And it was hard. Like everything in my life, I’ve had to work hard for it, and I felt like some people wanted to push me out and make it hard for me to be on this show. And I endured a lot. I endured a lot of rumors about my business and about my marriage, and I didn’t love that. So you know what? Shockingly, I ended up being in the center. I think I’m loveable, I think I’m authentic, and I think that’s what put me there.”
