Bill Belichick torches Jets owner Woody Johnson for Robert Saleh firing on ‘Manningcast’

Bill Belichick doesn’t like the Jets and he made no bones about it on Monday night during the “Manningcast” broadcast of the Jets game against the Bills.

Belichick, who briefly served as the Jets head coach before infamously resigning, flamed the Jets and their owner Woody Johnson for the decision to fire Robert Saleh last week.

“I’m not a big Jets fan, in case you don’t know that,” the former Patriots coach said to Eli and Peyton Manning. “I like Fireman Ed, but that’s it. Coach Saleh did a good job with that program. He brought in a culture, a level of toughness and competitiveness. … I thought Coach Saleh really did a good job with this team and they’re probably not that far from winning.”

But Belichick — the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach, didn’t stop there. He went further in on the way Johnson handled things.

“That’s kinda what it’s been there with the Jets,” Belichick said when Peyton Manning suggested it was too early to fire the coach. “They’ve barely won over 30 percent in the last 10 years. The owner being the owner, just ready, fire, aim.”

While there was a feeling that the Jets needed to make some changes, the bigger issue in some eyes was offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who did end up being demoted from play-calling duties after defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich took over as interim head coach

Belichick had already shared his thoughts on the Jets’ coaching move prior to Monday’s ESPN alternative broadcast on the “Let’s Go!” podcast.

However, he continued to poke fun at the Jets on Monday night as they lost to the Bills 23-20, even declaring he had an “unblemished” career with the Jets.

“I was the head coach before [Bill Parcells] came there and I was the head coach after Bill resigned. Undefeated, unscored on, alright?” Belichick said. “My career as the coach of the Jets, it is unblemished. Never gave up a point.”
