‘Erratic’ Liam Payne smashed his laptop and was carried to hotel room before fatal balcony fall: report
Liam Payne was reportedly “acting erratic” shortly before his death.
The former One Direction member died Wednesday at age 31. He fell from the balcony in his room on the third floor at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to TMZ.
The outlet reported that Payne “had been acting erratic” in the hotel lobby before he died.
The singer reportedly smashed his laptop in the lobby and had to be carried to his room.
It’s unclear if Payne’s death was intentional or accidental.
TMZ published a photo of what appears to be Payne’s arm. The outlet decided not to post the picture in its entirety because it reportedly shows the singer’s body on a wooden deck with tables and chairs nearby.
Photos obtained by The Post showed police officers and a forensics team outside the hotel.
The Post has reached out to Payne’s rep for comment.
Payne posted on his Snapchat story shortly before his death. In one of the since-deleted posts, he told fans he was having a “lovely day” while spending time with girlfriend Kate Cassidy in Argentina.

In a separate clip, Payne said he and Cassidy were really “enjoying” their time on vacation.
Payne also posted a photo of himself in jeans, a T-shirt and baseball cap sitting in a chair with his knees together, looking into the distance, seemingly referencing a moment from the movie “Forrest Gump.”
“Halloween costume idea: forest gump,” he wrote over the photo.
Payne went to Argentina earlier this month to support his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan, who had a show there.
He said on Instagram before that concert that the pair had things to “square up.”
“It’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We’ve got a lot to talk about and I would like to square up a couple things with the boy. No bad vibes or nothing like that but we just need to talk,” Payne explained.

Payne rose to fame as a member of the boy band alongside Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson. The group formed on “The X-Factor” in 2010, but broke up in 2016 after Malik, 31, quit.
Payne had a son, Bear, 7, with his ex, singer Cheryl Cole. Bear was born in March 2017.
The late star also previously dated “X-Factor” dancer Danielle Peazer, British supermodel Naomi Campbell and model Maya Henry.
He started dating Cassidy in 2022.
