I went for a job interview — these insane job conditions caused me to laugh out loud

Talk about quitting while you’re ahead.

A job applicant was so baffled by the bizarre conditions outlined by his prospective boss that he laughed out loud and exited the interview early.

The employment seeker described the “absolutely insane” incident in a Reddit post that’s earning him praise online.

“There should be laws against damn near everything they’re doing,” the Redditor declared in the post while describing the correspondence, which occurred over the phone.

The man didn’t explain the nature of the gig, only explaining that it “involved inventory” and was advertised as a “full-time” job with full benefits but no salary listed.

Although the interviewer noted that he’d getting paid just $16 an hour — the first red flag.

The interviewee grew increasingly concerned after the interviewer mentioned that his prospective position “couldn’t guarantee hours.”

“One week could be zero and the next could be 50,” the applicant recalled.

On top of that, employees for the company were required to travel throughout the state using their own vehicle and weren’t paid while they drove as the bosses considered it “like a commute.”

However, things got even worse when the interviewer outlined the next condition associated with the role.

“The job was advertised as full time, but turns out they can’t guarantee hours, so one week could be zero and the next could be fifty, according to her (the boss),” the Redditor wrote. Valerii Honcharuk – stock.adobe.com
The Redditor’s post describing how they quit a potentially terrible job before it began.

The company would choose hotel accommodation and pay for it while employees were traveliing for work — but there was a catch.

Employees potentially had to stay with an unknown party.

“Alright, I can deal with sh—ty hotels, but you have to share the room with a stranger,” the Redditor exclaimed. “Sure they would be another employee, but as I said you travel all over the state. Could be anyone from anywhere.”

He added: “I’m not getting assaulted in a sh–y hotel for sixteen dollars an hour and zero hours.”

The Redditor found this proposition so ludicrous that he dissolved into hysterics. “I didn’t mean to I just burst out laughing, when she looked at me confused I just laughed and said ‘That’s awful, people actually do that?'”

At that point, the employer — who was visibly upset — asked if the man wanted to continue the interview, to which he responded “God no” and hung up the phone, per the post.

Unsurprisingly, viewers praised the man’s reaction.

“When they say something utterly ridiculous they deserve to be laughed at,” said one commenter.

Another quipped: “Damn that sucks you accidentally laughed at that offer. Next time this situation comes up, make sure you intentionally laugh instead.”

“It’s a laughable offer to be fair,” said a third.

Others found the salary and hotel policy ludicrous.

“Dunkin’ Donuts pays that or more where I live. No sleepovers necessary,” scoffed one Redditor.

“There are so many reasons from an employer standpoint NOT to do room sharing, there is only one reason TO do room sharing,” spluttered another. “I haven’t worked anywhere that allowed that in 20 years.”
