Poop statue ‘honoring the brave’ Jan. 6 rioters creates quite the stink in DC
This statue is causing quite a stink.
A bronze memorial shaped like a poop has been dumped among the iconic monuments along the National Mall in Washington, DC — and officials can’t flush it away for at least a week.
DC’s latest tourist attraction, named “The Resolute Desk,” was dropped Thursday just a few blocks west of the Capitol.

It depicts a large, soft-serve turd sitting atop former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk in an apparent dig at former President Donald Trump and the rioters who stormed the seat of Congress on Jan. 6, 2021.
“This memorial honors the brave men and women who broke into the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021 to loot, urinate, and defecate throughout those hallowed halls in order to overturn an election,” a cheeky plaque on the base of the statue reads.
Many quickly expressed horror, with historian Dr. Tiffany Wayne among those sharing images and writing: “Disgusting in so many ways.”
“This goes beyond tasteless and borders on obscene,” one social media user posted, while another called it a “total embarrassment.”
“Democrat desperation is beyond the pale,” tweeted researcher Cate Long.
Still, the statue is not only allowed to be on the National Mall but will stay there until the end of the month, according to a permit filed with the United States Park Service, NBC Washington reported.
The piece was created by Julia Jimenez-Pyzik of Civic Crafted LLC, according to the permit.
“This desk represents the heart of democracy, where decisions are made, voices are heard, and the future is shaped,” the permit states. “More than just a place for work, it is a testament to the ideals of transparency, accountability, and representation.”
“When rioters broke in to destroy these ideals, this desk stands firm, so too must the principles of equality, justice, and freedom that it represents,” the permit continued.
The artist was also permitted to put up another statue, called “Tiki Torch,” to be installed at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and the White House on Oct. 28.
That piece depicts a hand emerging from a stone base, according to the permit.
