The rebuilding Nets are taking the first steps into a youth movement. Cam Thomas is leading the way, but he’s nowhere near alone.
Nearly two-thirds of their offensive production in the season opener came from players 25 years old or younger. Get used to names like Jalen Wilson, Noah Clowney and Ziaire Williams, because if youth is being served in Brooklyn they’ll all play a part.
“They’re taking leaps,” Ben Simmons said of Brooklyn’s crop of youngsters. “I think just overall, their willingness to learn on the floor and just get to their spots and having that confidence to take the shots that they’re open with, and they’re just going to continue to grow and get better. I love their games.”
The Nets — who play their home opener Sunday at Barclays Center against the visiting Milwaukee Bucks — are hoping they grow and get better. Brooklyn is banking on it, actually.
