Swinging couple reveal how they got started — and their major rules for intimacy
A couple who have been together since 2009 reveal the conversation that sparked their swinging lifestyle — and the rules they had when they first got started.
Olivia and Gage, who go by Vista Wife and Vista Husband, met in 2009 during a night out in Leeds, in England’s north, and the pair swapped numbers. But it wasn’t until later when Gage was on summer vacation that the pair reconnected.
It was during pillow talk when Olivia revealed that she thought she was bisexual — or at the very least, bi-curious, the couple told YouTube channel “Love Don’t Judge.“
“Long story short, it was a mutual decision. Conversations happening over a couple of weeks about Olivia’s sexuality,” Gage said.
Initially, Olivia was adamant she wanted to explore her sexuality with Gage, but it was hard to find a single woman to join in. Then they met a couple and the rest was history.
At first, the couple had rules. Gage could only engage with another woman or couple with Olivia around, but she could do as she pleased as it made her uncomfortable at first.
Now, it’s fluid between them and their main concern is keeping up communication.
The couple realized there was a huge issue with apps and forums that existed to help them meet other like-minded couples. Gage claimed many were filled with fake profiles.
So they decided to create their own. Thus, Swing Hub was born to modernize and get more people involved in swinging.
“The fact that we created a really safe environment. You can’t screenshot any images on there, so people can be as discreet as possible,” Olivia said.
“There is no photo sharing. Everybody is verified. It’s all safe, so you know who you’re talking to.”
They said all they wanted to do was show people that it was OK to be non-monogamous.
The couple, who define their marriage as open, have also risen to fame on social media.
Olivia and Gage called their family when they started gaining traction on social media. Gage’s mother revealed she’d been watching their TikToks.
The family’s sentiment was that it didn’t impact them, and as long as the couple was happy, there were no issues.
However, things haven’t been easy. The couple has experienced a lot of backlash, with some asking why they bothered to get married, claiming it was another form of cheating and that they spread sexually transmitted infections around.
On the flip side, since going public, so many people have thanked the couple for giving them the courage to explore this side for themselves.
The couple also have a venue where they host swinging parties called Vanilla Alternative, where a busy night can see 300 people in attendance.
But at the swingers club, some revealed they lost friends due to the fact they were in an open relationship. One claimed a friend said to him that he should just cheat on his wife instead.
“Our relationship works because we do have communication. When we got into the lifestyle, talking so much about it, it just spilt into everyday life,” Gage said.
“That itself makes our relationship work.”
