Teen critically hurt after botched NYC subway surfing stunt: sources

An 18-year-old woman was critically hurt after what appeared to be a failed subway surfing attempt in Harlem during the Wednesday evening rush, law enforcement sources said.

Witnesses spotted the teen trying to climb on top of a southbound 2 train around 6 p.m. when she fell onto the tracks, the sources said Thursday.

She was found in the tunnel between the West 145th and 135th Street stations, with severe injuries to her right arm and right leg, authorities said.

The 135th Street station is a station on the IRT Lenox Avenue Line of the New York City Subway.

The teen was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

The dangerous stunt came weeks after 13-year-old Krystel Romero was killed and her 14-year-old friend critically hurt when the pair fell off a southbound No. 7 train at the 111th Street station in Corona, cops said.

The accident closely followed a similar one that killed 13-year-old Adolfo Sorzano, who died subway surfing at the Forest Avenue station in Ridgewood, Queens.

The MTA told The Post this week that it has pushed social media companies to take down more than 10,900 subway-surfing-related posts — but it couldn’t say how many clips have actually been removed.

MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber had previously said that companies are being “mostly compliant” in removing the dangerous content.
